The Crimson Cult (1968)

An all-star version of H. P. Lovecraft's The Ordeals in the Witch House, co-starring Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee and blue-skinned Barbara Steele as Lavina, a witch burnt at the stake in a small town 300 years ago. The surreal scenes of her other-worldy court feature animal-headed jurors and S + M bailiffs and are the best part of this movie.

Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933)

Sculptor Lionel Atwill survives being burned alive to rebuild his wax museum and exact revenge on his enemies. Remade in 3-D as House of Wax in 1953 (starring Vincent Price), this was photographed in the early two-colour version of technicolor.
